Who we are
About Summer Zell, MA, LPC-A, BCBA
Women’s Counseling for Perinatal & Neurodivergent Motherhood in Charleston, SC & Virtual Across South Carolina
I’m a mom of three and a stepmom to two, and I know firsthand how complex and overwhelming motherhood can feel—especially when navigating neurodivergence.
Pregnancy, postpartum, and early motherhood can bring intense emotional, physical, and sensory changes. If you’re feeling overstimulated, anxious, disconnected, or like you’ve lost parts of yourself along the way, you’re not alone. This work is deeply personal to me, and it shapes how I show up in therapy—with compassion, honesty, and a focus on what actually helps.
Who I Help
I specialize in supporting women in the perinatal season—from pregnancy through postpartum and early motherhood—especially those with ADHD or autism, or those raising neurodivergent children.
This includes:
Pregnancy, postpartum, and identity shifts in motherhood
Birth trauma and difficult transitions into parenthood
Late-diagnosed ADHD and autism in women
Sensory overload, emotional reactivity, and burnout
Parenting stress within neurodivergent households
My work focuses on helping you process your experiences, reduce overwhelm, and reconnect with yourself—so you can feel more grounded, supported, and aligned in your daily life.
My Approach to Therapy
My approach is warm, relational, and attachment-based.
Sessions are grounded in nervous system regulation, self-compassion, and practical, evidence-based strategies—so you’re not just gaining insight, but also tools you can use in your everyday life.
With a background as both a therapist and behavior analyst, I bring a unique blend of deeper emotional work and structured, supportive strategies. Together, we focus on reducing sensory overwhelm, building emotional resilience, and creating realistic systems that actually work for your brain and your life.
A More Grounded Way to Do Therapy
Therapy with me is collaborative, focused, and paced in a way that respects your time and energy.
Sessions are available:
In-person in Charleston, SC
Through Walk & Talk therapy along the coast
Virtually across South Carolina
This is a space where you can slow down, feel understood, and begin to reconnect with yourself—not just as a mother, but as a whole person.
What You Can Expect
I believe in your capacity to heal, grow, and create a life that feels more steady and fulfilling—even if it doesn’t look the way you originally imagined.
You don’t have to keep pushing through the overwhelm alone.
Together, we’ll work toward helping you:
Feel more grounded in your body
Move through motherhood with greater clarity and confidence
Build a deeper sense of self-trust
Reignite your light and build a brighter future where you feel like you again
